Dwight "Ike" Eisenhower was born October 14, 1890 in Denison, Texas. He was the thirty-fourth president of the United States, and this lasted from 1953-1961. Prior to his presidency he was the Supreme Commander of NATO and influenced the outcome of Operation Torch and the Allies invasion into France and Germany. Operation Torch was the British and American operation to seize control of North Africa in WWII. As president of the U.S. he had several great innovations including the establishment of DARPA, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, and his release of the Interstate Highway System. His life as a leader concluded March 28, 1968.
